Description of Barytes
Barytes, or Barite (BaSO4), is a mineral consisting of Barium Sulfate. It is generally white or off-white in appearance and serves as the primary source of Barium. Barytes is finely ground to a uniform particle size before being used as a filler, extender, industrial additive, or weighting agent in petroleum well drilling mud.
